2023 Burke's Team Members

Brian Bajew
This will be the seventh time Brian goes for 26.2, although his first to participate in the New York City Marathon! Brian started running fifteen years ago at Texas A&M University, when a friend asked if he would be interested in running the Houston Marathon. From that first race, he was hooked and has not looked back since (unless it’s to see if someone is about to pass him, nothing wrong with a little competitive edge).
For each of the past six marathons, Brian has dedicated his participation in the race to a person or a
cause, and number seven will be no different. Brian will be running in memory of those nearest to him—family and friend—who have been diagnosed with cancer. One of these individuals is Brian’s friend and teammate Burke, whom he met almost eight years ago in the courtrooms of Baltimore City.
Brian is tight-lipped when it comes to his running playlist, but if you try and tell him Mizunos are not the best brand for running, you may end up listening to more than you bargained for.

Nolan Patouillet
I’m running my first marathon. I previously did the Pittsburgh half marathon in 2022. I’m running in part for my own fitness journey to continue to lose weight and be healthier myself. I’m also running for to the encouragement from an old college friend, Burke who I was recently able to reconnect with after hearing about his journey. I’m also running in support of my own dad who has recovered from cancer but I know that cancer research and treatment is the reason he is still here today! I try to drink a lot of water and eat bananas and protein bars after a longer run. While running, I usually listen to podcasts (usually something sports or pop culture).
